Year in Review: December

December, December, December...

My head is still spinning with where the days went, and how quickly they've gone!

Everything was going great for most of the month. I had my girlfriend Aziza over for dinner one night, which was a lot of fun. She brought over part of her CSA (community supported agriculture) bag and we made a fantastic dinner of roasted chicken, garlic mashed potatoes, and baked green beans, followed up by an apple-rhubarb pie. Dee-lish!

Year in Review: November

November is probably by far my favorite month of the year. The weather in Los Angeles finally starts to cool down,  Marie has a birthday, and then of course there is Thanksgiving, a day where one can surround themselves with family, eat like a mad woman and pass out on the couch without any judgements. 

This year, Marie and I met in Chicago for three days to celebrate her birthday and to see Prof play. It was perfect and so much fun, that I think we are going to make this a regular occurance. 

Year in Review: October

It seems as though I blinked and October was here, blinked again and it was over. What a nuts-o month it was. 

First we had Madison's school carnival: 

-set up on the weekend before

-3 days of volunteering in the heat

-break down in one day

As much as I hate volunteering and getting to know Madison's school community, this wasn't all that bad this year. I guess I should stop being such a...hmmm, can't think of a fitting word here...and just enjoy getting out of the house. 

Year in Review: September

September was an okay month. Madison was having some issues adjusting to life in Kindergarten, and we had to have multiple meetings with Sister to get to the root of the problem. Turns out she was just a bit scared of being on the school campus with a lot of big kids, wearing a uniform and some minor issues with her teacher, which have since been cleared up. 

Year in Review: August

August came all too quickly. It seems as though from here, the rest of the year just whizzed right by.

 August was miserably hot. We spent a good chunk of the month with temperatures over 100°, and since our pool currently is a big toy cemetery now (aka a big, empty pit.) we had to improvise.

We played in water filled buckets and the sprinklers a lot, in addition to the hose. It helped, but it was still like Hell on Earth. Needless to say the kids were naked most days. ha!
